This was the first year doing the light display in our Cove home. We hesitated setting up our light show at all in 2011 because we were ill-prepared with the changes that would need to be made moving to a new home. But, Dave mentioned our wacky holiday light tradition to some of his 11-year old scouts and one of them in particular (Blake Johnson) was really excited about the idea and continually asked Dave if he was going to do the lights, saying that he was going to have lots of family up for the holidays and really wanted to bring them to see the show. His excitement was just enough to light the spark that got us going in 2011.
A few extension cords, a couple extra strands of C9's, a bunch of stakes, and a few replacement candy canes later and we were in full swing. Despite the extra purchases, we got a very late start to things and had a very different canvas with which to work, and the show ended up being a bit less extravagant that it may have otherwise been. We ended up using only 18 of our available 32 'channels' - which is quite small when comparing other animated light displays. The show was, nevertheless, a smashing success!
